Motorized cable guided screens gave this Castle Rock homeowner a backyard patio they could finally use — taming relentless Colorado wind and afternoon sun without giving up the view.
For this Castle Rock, CO homeowner, the backyard patio had everything going for it—except comfort. Harsh sun glare and relentless Colorado wind made the space nearly unusable, and traditional fixes like solid walls or heavy curtains would have meant sacrificing the view. He needed a smarter solution that could tame the elements without closing off the outdoors.
A Precision-Engineered Screen Solution for Wind and Sun Control
After assessing the patio’s exposure and the homeowner’s priorities, Elevation Window Designs recommended SunPro Motorized Cable Guided Screens. This system is designed to reduce wind and filter sunlight while maintaining clear sight lines and preserving the surrounding Colorado landscape.
Smart Features Designed for Year-Round Outdoor Comfort
- Motorized Operation: With the touch of a button, the screens deploy or retract completely. No manual effort is required, making it easy to adjust throughout the day as conditions change.
- Cable Guided System: The cable guidance keeps each screen taut and stable, even in windy conditions, preventing sagging and maintaining a clean appearance.
- Dark Screen Material: The dark finish minimizes glare and helps keep the patio cooler while still allowing clear outward visibility.
Project Highlights: A Patio That Finally Works for the Family
Elevation Window Designs installed SunPro Motorized Cable Guided Screens across the patio, integrating the system seamlessly into the existing structure. The transformation was immediate. The screens lowered into place, the wind softened, the glare reduced, and the view remained fully intact.
The homeowner now has a patio the family can enjoy throughout the day—from bright summer afternoons to breezy Colorado evenings. The motorized operation means the screens are used consistently rather than left up or taken down seasonally, making the investment earn its keep every single day.
Before & After: From Sun-Soaked Slab to a Livable Outdoor Room
Before installation, the patio was a bare concrete slab that often sat unused during peak daylight hours. The sunlight was too intense, and the wind made it difficult to relax or even hold a conversation. After installation, the space became a shaded, sheltered outdoor room that still feels open to the surrounding landscape—exactly the balance the homeowner wanted.
